Is the colour powder safe?

Your participant’s health is up-most important. Our colour/holi powder is made of 98% corn starch and 2% permitted colours. Our manufacturer is an ISO 9001-2005 certified Crisil rated company producing the highest quality product. Our powder is not considered hazardous.

What if it gets in our participant’s eyes?

We advise that volunteers throw the powder at the torso, however wind and other factors can cause the powder to protrude on the face. Don’t be concerned if it does, because the powder is non-toxic and a simple rinse with water will take care of that.

We encourage participants to wear our UV400 rated sunglasses as it will greatly reduce the chances of colour powder getting into the eyes.

Can we inhale it?

It’s a lot like breathing in dust and dirt, extensive exposure is not recommended. People with lung issues such as asthma are advised to be careful in their decision to participate.

What about clean up?

The colour powder is bio degradable and environmentally safe – should it land on your grass it will disappear with a little water. Any colour powder that lands on the pavement can be washed away with a hose or high pressure water sprayer. It is recommended not to get powder on athletic tracks as the material can be porous leading to staining.

Does the powder clean out of clothes?

Although colour powder washes out very easily, we advise you not to wear your best clothes or most expensive shoes. Leather and suede especially are known for easily absorbing colour powder. If you want to keep the colour in your t-shirt, spray with vinegar. However, the colour powder will wash out after several washes.

Will the colour powder wash off your skin and hair?

Yes! The easiest way to get it off is while it’s still dry (shake, wiggle or jump up and down). Soap and water, with a little rinse will do the trick.

How much powder do you recommend to order per participant?

We suggest 100-200 grams per participant using our 350g spray bottles for short courses, however with community based events that are run over a longer distance we suggest anywhere from 300-500 grams per participant. Our 100g powder bags are a great way to finish off your event with a colour blast finale.

Are the sunglasses compliant to Australian standards?

You bet! Our sunglasses are UV400 rated, fully approved by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency.
